Bishmay Barik

About

Hey, I’m Bishmay. I am a Research Associate at the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL), Reserve Bank of India. I hold a Master’s degree in Economics from Shiv Nadar University (Dean’s List, 2025) and a Bachelor’s in Economics from XIM University, Bhubaneswar.

My research interests span development economics, political economy, and macroeconomics — with a focus on using empirical and computational methods to answer questions about inequality, caste, and public policy in India. I work extensively with data scraping and text analysis to complement traditional econometric approaches. I work primarily with Python and Stata. Previously, I’ve been a Research Assistant at QuantEcon and a Data Science Intern at Development Data Lab.

I’m open to opportunities and happy to collaborate. Feel free to reach out at bishmaykbarik@gmail.com.

Software and Tools

Python, Stata, LaTeX, Markdown, Jupyter, Git/GitHub, Bash, GNU Make

Currently fascinated by zero-shot classification and NLP pipelines (particularly BART-large-MNLI) for text analysis in empirical research. I also work with JAX and TensorFlow for computational economics.
