Hey, I’m Bishmay. I am a Research Associate at the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL), Reserve Bank of India. I hold a Master’s degree in Economics from Shiv Nadar University (Dean’s List, 2025) and a Bachelor’s in Economics from XIM University, Bhubaneswar.

These days I’m mostly interested in granular development economics questions around caste and migration in India. I like using CS and DS techniques to answer these economics questions, and I’d like my research to be useful enough to actually feed into policy. Previously, I’ve been a Research Assistant at QuantEcon and a Data Science Intern at Development Data Lab.

Lately I’ve been building LLM and agentic pipelines for economics research: fine-tuned MuRIL/BERT classifiers for Hindi and Hinglish text, vision-model extraction from scanned archival tables, and PII-safe workflows using the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs.
